Amid the toppling Russian Monarchy and World War I, Kassia, a Russian noble, struggles to overcome forbidding circumstances. Early in life she’s befriended by a holy man, Father Gregory, a controversial figure whose enemies call him, “Rasputin,” which means fraud. But Father Gregory has the power to perform miracles, and does so, endearing himself to Kassia and others – including Tzar Nicholas and Tzarina Alexandra. Father Gregory teaches Kassia the, “Prayer of Jesus,” which is a special Russian, Christian, mystical practice, for protection and happiness. Political intrigue and murder do, however, uproot her privileged life at the Winter Palace, and she’s forced to live with relatives in Lisbon. There she meets her hero, John Claude, a French baron whose international banking empire have been confiscated by the Germans in World War I. Their romance seems impossible! The Germans have put a price on John Claude's head! He's badly wounded and thought to be dead. Kassia is kidnapped and about to become a sex slave. Her only protection and consolation is refuge in the, “Prayer of Jesus,” and teaching of Father Gregory's. War, economic crisis, loss of noble status, family opposition, kidnapping, John Claude's injuries, and other factors are resolved at Fatima on October 13, 1917, when the greatest mass miracle in the history of the world takes place. Special Note From The Author: In the beginning I actually believed I had created the characters and their personal story. But as time went on, I realized Kassia was actually telling me her story. It was her Christian testimony of how she endured and overcame, using the prayer of Jesus. I believe Kassia was actually there – that is was her true story. At one time in my life I didn't believe in such things. Today I do! She identified herself only by her first name, Kassia, and that of John Claude, so it's not possible to check any of her facts. And the facts I was able to check from history books didn't really prove anything. There was only one thing different from the history books. According to Kassia, her childhood friend, Princess Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna of Russia didn't die with the rest of her family on July 17, 1918. According to Kassia she escaped using the Jesus Prayer. Despite the DNA samples and what the other historians say, I'm still telling the story as Kassia told it. I believe Kassia was actually there. What more can I say. I had always been interested in Russian History and the facts surrounding the final Russian revolution. My grandfather left Russia to come to the USA in 1905 because of all the turmoil. The fact that this story begins in 1905 is purely coincidental. So I was just following my roots when I followed Father Gregory's instructions on how to take refuge in the Prayer of Jesus and did so myself. The result was terrific. Based on Kassia's Christian testimony and my person experience with the Jesus prayer, there was a wonderful and transforming occurrence that totally enriched my personal life. I sincerely hope the reader will have the same or similar fantastic spiritual experience. God Bless!
