About the Author:

Johann David Wyss (1743-1818) was a Swiss born author, most known for the classic Swiss Family Robinson. He was inspired by Daniel Defoe’s Robinson Crusoe, yet wanted his story to be something from which his own children could learn. His style has been described as firmly Christian and moral in tone.
