West’s imagination immediately began to suggest possible backstories for this mystery, and she then borrowed some information from an unrelated local murder case that had taken place a few years before. Merging these, she created ‘Apple of My Eye.’ West holds a Ph.D. in English and enjoys history, languages, music, science and travel. She is a great supporter of animals. Like Gracie, she lives in a rural part of the Northeastern United States, travels often and widely, and is an accomplished cook. West writes her novels under a nom de plume borrowed from a paternal great great great grandmother.
