From the Author:
Okay there's a story behind one of the characters in Butterfly Chaos, and it's a little embarrassing, but I'm going to tell it anyway.
There's a guy from junior high and my freshman year that I'm basing Jake on. He was super-smart but annoyed the hell out of everybody. I fell in love with Jake at the beginning of my freshman year -- we were on aband trip and I could not figure out why I was compelled, in a bus full of freshmen, to turn around and *stare* at him the whole time. (Give me a break, I was pretty clueless about everything. It wasamazing I survived high school!)
But even though "Jake" was kind of anass to everybody else, and he knew I was badly afflicted, he was very, very kind to me. He could have made fun of me, the way he did witheverybody and everything else -- but he never did.
Even after all these years, I appreciate that very much.
*lifts coffee mug to Jake, wherever he is*
