About the Author:

Born in Seoul, South Korea, Yi Sun-Kyung is a journalist and filmmaker who now lives in Toronto. Her television documentary, Scenes from a Corner Store, was nominated for a Gemini Award, and won a Silver Plaque at the International Film and Video Festival in Chicago and a bronze medal at the New York Film Festival. She has also worked as a print journalist for the Globe and Mail, the Kitchener-Waterloo Record, and the Edmonton Journal. This book grew out of a radio documentary called "Hidden Korea", which she created for CBC Radio's respected Ideas program.
