About the Author:

Luwillis Gibson grew up between separated parents and grandparents vacillating between Toledo Ohio, and atlanta Georgia, during the years of the great depression, through the 1940s. Needless to say, the whole scene, lined with mounds of thorny beds of roses - was almost always devoid of celestial harmony, though, says he seriously, 'as difficult as it must be to believe,' he found most of his early life enjoyable, in most strange ways. This became the perch from which the mixing of "The Witch's Brew" was first viewed. From that advantage, he began meshing his youth experiences with subsequent professional experiences, to attempt his accounting of our ongoing social morass.

It wasn't long after he's begun his Corrections career, that he learned his youthful and professional encounters had combined sufficiently to have become what he calls happily, his 'piece de resistance,' or his slice of life's pie. The opening of that window provided the opportunity to view and formulate his rapidly materializing opinions relative to our ominous expanse of injustices and criminality.

As a black visionary, during this period of immense social reformation, after about 1945 these awesome phenomena quickly bloomed into a personal obsession with special emphasis - ultimately that glimmer of an earlier seed had provided the insightful courage that greatly fertilized the desire to write this book.

But still, all would have been for naught, had it not been for the vast contribution of WWII to that tantalizing fertilized seed. In fact it was his wartime experiences that lead to what he's glowingly referred to as having his 'piece de resistance,' or rewarding career in corrections. Having been provided a hands on, bottom to top molding - the full gamut of the various criminal types and matching required variety of management styles, were the Godsend winds of the times. It should be noted here that his sparkling career which had began as a Corrections Officer in the World's Largest Prison (State Prison of Southern Michigan) in 1949, began to bloom rapidly, under the auspices of a prideful military backdrop; The historical recognized U.S. Army's 24th Infantry; Buffalo Soldier; Bronze Star mystique times, etc. Of course, our contributing socially unparalleled changing times greatly enhanced his stratification to the stars. it is what might be said for being in the right place at that psychological moment?

Indeed, these had meshed well to boost the Michigan Corrections' third black officer, to rapid elevation. Keep in mind, these were the prevailing social winds immediately preceding the onslaught of the infamous 1952 Prison Riots and the Supreme Courts emancipation Ruling of 1954 (Brown Versus The Topeka Kansas, School Board.) His soaring rise to stardom culminated at (MCF the States Newest Prison, where he retired in 1982. The only significance of that point is that it was the relevance of that bountiful experience that qualified him for the task requirements in The Witch's Brew, which is a product of that formulated mindset concocted by those experiences. But then it would be remiss to omit that this was all under the guidance of a fairly adequate educational background.
