Grade 2-4-- A poorly done, simplistic picture-book retelling of the legend. Wray hits the major moments in the story, such as how Robin becomes an outlaw, how he meets his merry men, the archery competition, and the rescue of Will Scarlet. But this book is not really about Robin Hood; it uses the story as a background for its hidden-picture gimmick. Each illustration has several things to look for within the drawing, such as a mouse's head, a baseball bat, a spoon, or a slice of bread. The drab, black-and-white illustrations are confusing and badly drawn. The only color is an aquamarine border. Even when readers know where the hidden objects are, it is difficult to make them out.
