About the Author:

Jim Gianatsis’s interest in motocross began in1968 when he began racing dirt bikes, photographing races and writing about them. An editor, test rider and production manager for Cycle News, he was also a pro level rider in the AMA Nationals, covering all the major AMA National, Inter-AM, Trans-AM and Supercross races, and befriending the top international and American riders and their mechanics. The onetime marketing director for Husqvarna East, he was also involved with testing Husky prototype bikes. The only journalist given the privilege of testing all the top factory works bikes, Gianatsis later went to work at Moto-Fox, which was at the forefront of motocross suspension development, as marketing director and product designer. Today Jim lives in the Santa Monica Mountains above Los Angeles, and has turned his attention to racing and riding Ducati Superbikes and very hot sports cars. His weekends are spent riding the canyons or doing practice days at the racetrack.
