My Love,
I wake up this morning in a kind of discouraged mood-mortality I guess.
But there was a lovely moment yesterday. The lake was slate gray and thick with sparkling lights, like a sky full of stars, the grass and the trees were rich green and lush, like a rain forest. A bird was singing. Surf was thumping against the shore, Grand Beach background noises (never absent) seemed quieter. A perfect few minutes. I knew that where there was such beauty, you must also be. Thank you.
Moments like this are all around and I must be more open to them, especially at times when my mood is low and I am harassed on all sides.
I love You.
I have been reading a new scripture writer the last couple of days, a certain N.T. Grant, who calls his book The Victory of God. He answers a lot of questions (in elaborate and scholarly detail) about You and Your Son. It is all the more mysterious and all the more wonderful. How can we have missed the point so often? You love us.... I must write even more in my novels about the determination of Your love.
Introduction
The late Dan Herr, God rest his gallant soul, demanded that I turn over to him anything I have that he might publish. All I had was the first pages of a prayer journal I had started to write after I discovered in my novel The Cardinal Virtues that one might pray effectively on the computer screen. I have never read any of these journals from cover to cover.
After reading a few pages, I've feel I don't want to know the one who wrote them. The only reason for continuing to publish them is to encourage others to keep prayer journals.
