How do you make cheese from pantry staples? Or create an oven smoker from scratch in just two minutes? Or make ice cream without a machine? In Home Made, Yvette van Boven shows you how, complete with an irreverent voice, step-by-step photos and illustrations, and a gorgeous photo alongside every recipe. While her recipes are rooted in a natural, from-scratch cooking philosophy, van Boven is never preachy (she doesn’t use the word “organic”); she believes that this way of cooking is fun and that the dishes simply taste better. Chapters include Preserving Vegetables, Pre-Dinner Drinks, Chocolate and Cookies, After a Night Out, Ice-Cream-You-Scream, Don’t Forget the Dog!, and more. Each chapter starts with a basic dish that you can make yourself, but usually don’t because you think it’s too complicated (think again!), and includes variations—basic bread becomes focaccia with olives and rosemary, or red cherry and thyme bread. This book will inspire you to make every dish at home.

"synopsis" may belong to another edition of this title.

From the Back Cover:

Home Made was Yvette’s first cook book. Now, a series of award-winning and internationally successful cookbooks further, Yvette created the perfect companion to her cookbooks.

That companion is the Home Made Food Notebook, written and illustrated by Yvette, but created to take over by all the foodies who loved her books, so they can now keep notes of their own adventures in food heaven.

In this notebook Yvette shares her pantry staples and how she makes them, and gives you the basic, handy food and cooking information you need, but most of the pages are only lightly illustrated for you to fill with your own recipes, lists and food memories.

About the Author:

Yvette van Boven is the author of Home Made Winter, Home Made Summer, and Home Baked. She is a freelance recipe writer and illustrator and is the host of Holland's popular cooking show Koken Met van Boven. She is also the culinary editor of Holland's largest women's weekly magazine and writes and illustrates a weekly column for Volkskrant magazine. Van Boven splits her time between Amsterdam and Paris.
