About the Author:
b. Long Branch, NJ, '41; Attended public schools in Jackson, Miss.; Attended Emory Univ.(Stipes Scholar), Millsaps College (B.A. with Honors, '63), & Univ. of Texas (Woodrow Wilson Fellow, Ph.D, '67). Shoemaker was Prof. of Philosophy, Hendrix College, until '87. His academic specialties have included Ethics, Phil. of Art and Literature, Logic and the History of Philosophy. He has been a visiting scholar at Millsaps Coll., the Univ. of Arkansas, and Vanderbilt Univ. He was a founding member and officer of the Ark. Phil. Assn. and the Ark. Humanities Council. He has participated in community theaters, choruses and art exhibits. Shoemaker is now a Master Gardener, a fisherman, a sometime chef and a full time writer, living in Conway, Arkansas.
