About the Author:
P.D. Rivers is no longer a child herself but still filled with the wonder of childhood, she writes words that resound in the hearts and minds of so many children today. She is a mother, grandmother and aunt of children who have been diagnosed with ADD/ADHD and has first hand experience with the repercussions of such a label. She is a talent heralded by many and matched only by an imagination that rises to the task. A departure from her adult genre writings, Don't Color ME with ADD is the first in a series of recent pursuits. It is her first nonfiction book written especially for children and those who care for them. She lives in Florida with her husband John.

I HEARD MY TEACHER TELL MY MOM THAT I HAVE ADD.

SHE SAID TO TAKE ME TO THE DOCTOR AND GET MEDICINE FOR ME.

SHE SAID I MESS AROUND IN SCHOOL AND DO NOT COMPREHEND.

SHE SAID SHE HAS TO TELL ME THINGS OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

Above is a short exceprt from my new book: DONT COLOR ME WITH ADD.
It is written from the point of view of a child who has just overheard her teacher telling her mother to take her to the doctor because she thinks she needs medication for ADD. I wrote this book because I overheard a child ask his mother if he was mentally ill after hearing his teacher talking to her about his medication. This is a wake-up call from our children. We should not label them as damaged and this book will help you and them understand that some of the smartest people in the world just might be called ADD now.
