The story is not only heart-breaking and sobering... but it is one of the most superb, vivid pieces of writing I have ever read, written with so much honesty and passion. It's like I was there, seeing what you saw... feeling what you felt. It took my breath away. That piece needs to be read by everyone... at least by every American. You should write a book.
