About the Author:
BiographyTimothy K. Fitzgerald was one of the first born 'baby-boomers' arriving on Jan. 1946. Raised by Middle Class parents in a rural setting 10 miles outside of San Jose, California. His education (K-12) was in the Los Gatos Union schools, where he was an active leader in the Boy Scout program for 10 years, and competitive in Track and Cross Country as a youth.
He attended San Jose State University for his undergraduate degree - changing major objectives three times before graduating in Aug. 1971 in business and economics. Drawn to the prominent Civil Rights Movement on campus by radical spokespersons like Harry Edwards and Tommie Smith, he led the campus to adopt the principles of the Port Huron Statement as authored by Tom Hayden in 1962.
An emotional collapse following the Cambodia Invassion in South East Asia led to failure in traditional career employment, in the process leading to interest in Western Institutions and an intense effort for four more degrees (a BA in History, and two Masters in Social Science subjects, plus a recent success with a Masters in Philosophy).
He has taught periodically in community colleges in Central California in the last decade, and at times worked as a substitute teacher in selected high schools in the prior decade. In this process he became a scholar of Western Thought and ideas while lending his knowledge to the Green Party of California over the span of the 15 years.
He first wrote accounts of the Sixties in the late 70s, completing a Thesis archived with Universal Micro-films, Inc, and considered an authority on San Jose State Campus history in the 60s by scholars and faculty at the University.
