The Wireless Gigabit Alliance (also known as the WiGig) is an organization promoting the adoption of multi-gigabit speed wireless communications technology operating over the unlicensed 60 GHz frequency band. The creation of WiGig was announced on May 7, 2009. The completed version 1.0 WiGig specification was announced in December 2009. In May 2010, WiGig announced the publication of its specification, the opening of its Adopter Program, and the liaison agreement with the Wi-Fi Alliance to cooperate on the expansion of Wi-Fi technologies. In June 2011, WiGig announced the release of its certification-ready version 1.1 specification. The WiGig specification will allow devices to communicate without wires at multi-gigabit speeds. It enables high performance wireless data, display and audio applications that supplement the capabilities of today's wireless LAN devices. WiGig tri-band enabled devices, which operate in the 2.4, 5 and 60 GHz bands, will deliver data transfer rates up to 7 Gbit/s, more than 10 times faster than the highest 802.11n rate while maintaining compatibility with existing Wi-Fi devices. This book is your ultimate resource for Wireless Gigabit Alliance (WiGig). Here you will find the most up-to-date information, analysis, background and everything you need to know. In easy to read chapters, with extensive references and links to get you to know all there is to know about Wireless Gigabit Alliance (WiGig) right away, covering: Wireless Gigabit Alliance, Access Network Discovery and Selection Function, Ad hoc On-Demand Distance Vector Routing, Ad Hoc QoS Multicast, Ad hoc wireless network, Ad-hoc Wireless Distribution Service, Adaptive Wireless Path Protocol, Air2Web, AirSnort, Alcatel-Lucent 5620 Service Aware Manager, Augmented Tree-based Routing, B.A.T.M.A.N., Babel (protocol), Backhaul (telecommunications), Barber's pole, Barker code, Base station, Bluetooth low energy, Body Area Network, Broadcast radiation, Buffalo AirStation, BYOA, Cantenna
