Synopsis

Big book with a good overview of battles, it covers pre-war tensions all the way to the Treaty of Versaille. This isn't just a picture book, it is a discussion and well done. It is most accurate. But this is the largest collection of photos Ive ever seen. Has different sections on the naval vs. land war and America entering the war. Even includes the Russian revolution. Some of the photos are so obscure that I had never seen then before like training, hospital ships and the giant bone piles of dead soldiers which is really gross. Photos are from American, British, German, Japanese and all different sources.

Excellent content; finally a textual rebuttal for all the English propaganda far too long reprinted unquestioned in this country. Outstanding photos with some minor mislabeling. Text relating to the prewar period great; a reminder that because of the commonality of language the US bought the Allied case hook, line, and sinker. But viewpoint seems to flip flop with actual declaration of war and German occupation of Belgium. Nonetheless well worth the purchase price for great picture collection alone, as well as the challenge bravely presented to the official US line for entering a war in which the interests of humanity, the US, and "right" were probably more vested in the Central Powers.
