About the Author:
Described as a 'cosmopolitan minimalist,' Andrea De Carlo was 'discovered' in the early 1980's by one of Italy's most famous literary icons, Italo Calvino, who wrote the introduction to De Carlo's first novel, Cream Train (Treno di Panna, 1981). De Carlo grew up in Milan, and is the author of fifteen novels, which have been translated into twenty-one languages. Paula Geldenhuys was born in Cape Town, South Africa. However, she has spent most of her professional life in Florence, Italy where she has lived for twenty-five years. She has a PhD in Comparative Literature, working as a university lecturer and literary translator.
