In this wide-ranging, provocative defence of Christianity, former lawyer Roy Williams contends that belief should be based on logical deductions from known facts. Using a wealth of examples drawn from science, politics, history, sociology and the arts, he tackles the biggest questions by appealing to evidence and reason. Part careful and ecumenical apologia, part testament to Williams' personal journey towards faith,God, Actually will appeal to sceptics and practising Christians alike.

About the Author:

Roy Williams won the Sydney University Medal in law in 1985, and practised as a litigator for almost 20 years at one of Australia's oldest and most eminent legal firms. He now writes full-time. A sceptic for most of his life, he came to faith in his midthirties via parenthood, prodigious reading and a life-changing illness. He lives in Sydney, Australia, with his wife and two daughters.

Review:

"A must read for skeptics. Roy Williams brings a lawyer’s careful attention to evidence and strength of inference to life’s (and death’s) most important questions. He respectfully, but effectively, cross-examines the case against Christianity as propounded by its recent atheist advocates. Like C.S. Lewis and other authors who came to faith late in life, Roy Williams understands the issues that trouble atheists and agnostics and gives thoughtful, convincing responses. He takes on the issues that serve as roadblocks to many modern skeptics, from creation and evolution to the religious right."  —Robert F. Cochran, author, Faith and Law

Book Description LION HUDSON LTD, United Kingdom, 2009. Paperback. Condition: New. New edition. Language: English. Brand new Book. Why should we believe in God? It is a question that is profoundly engaging the minds of the world. Former lawyer, Roy Williams, contends that belief should be based on logical deductions from known facts: it is not a matter of blind faith. Using many examples drawn from science, politics, history, sociology and the arts, he tackles all the biggest questions by appealing to evidence and to reason. A recurring theme of the book is the vital place of doubt and uncertainty in God's creation. Rebutting the arguments of atheists such as Christopher Hitchens and Richard Dawkins, Williams explores the role of faith, which he considers a much-misunderstood concept.
