Review:
'I think this will be a very popular book for those both entering the worlds of fashion and textiles in whatever capacity, as well as those time pressed, already in the business who want or need to know more. The authors claim that it is not exhaustive but it is impressively comprehensive, with an effective balance of enticing visuals and accessible writing. Bags of information that can be absorbed easily without the pain of thinking you're doing our homework. Great for dipping into but also a good read for those who need a broader knowledge or have a curious mind.' Professor Jane Rapley, OBE, Head of Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design Fabric for Fashion explores the symbiotic relationship between fashion design and textile technology in a visually entertaining and yet environmentally responsible way. Designers and the fashion curious alike, will marvel while learning about the historical background of a full range of textiles, up to and including, today's cutting edge fibers; corn, bamboo, soy, kenaf, nettle, abaca and pina. From fiber to finishing and color theory to intelligent packagingA", this book is the action standard for those who believe that fashion's impact on the world begins with a socially responsible designer; one that understands the importance of textile biogradability and renewable resources and who uses this knowledge to make intelligent choices in the design process.' Francesca Sterlacci, President of Fashion HowTo, Instructor at Academy of Art University and former chairperson at the Fashion Institute of Technology, NY
