In the Roman Empire, around the year 5 AD, times were changing. The Pax Romana had created security, freedoms, and opportunities previously unheard of. A group of inventors exhibited a new invention for Caesar Augustus-a crude steam engine with multiple applications (apps).
After a season of considering the benefits of the steam engine, Caesar concluded to have it destroyed. His reasoning: It would put thousands of unskilled and uneducated people out of work.
So, it would be sixteen hundred years before the world would have its' steam engine.
In a slightly different way and considering computers instead of steam engines this books takes a new and hopefully light-hearted look at Caesar's dilemma.
