About the Author:

Born in Calcutta, Manosi Lahiri studied at the Universities of Calcutta, Delhi and London and holds a doctorate in Geography from Delhi University. A pioneer in the field of geoinformatics and a consultant of international repute, Dr. Lahiri is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of ML Infomap, New Delhi, a geographic information technology company. She has contributed to several prestigious projects of the Government of India as well as a number of UN organizations. Digital map products and IT solutions developed by her company are widely used by corporations and research institutes.
Passionate about cartography, trekking and the survey of remote destinations, Dr. Lahiri has traveled extensively in Tibet and China. She is the author of the Understanding Geography series of three textbooks for Indian middle-schoolers, published by Oxford University Press India. Dr. Lahiri enjoys reading maps, novels, biographies and travelogues. She has two daughters and lives in Gurgaon, near New Delhi, India.
