About the Author:

In 1999, Paige Deponte felt the desire to use her talents for a higher purpose and founded GLOBAL ART IN ACTION, a non-profit organization created to utilize the arts in the hope of inspiring awareness and change regarding critical issues facing our world today. Her first project was released in 2000, a fine art photography book, consisting of 144 toned images shot in eight bio-divese hotspots -areas in danger of irreversable destruction and vital resources facing complete extinction. The book, titled GAIA I, "Journey into Vasishing Worlds" donates all proceeds to Conservation International's campaign to save the hotspots, in hopes of educating indigenous cultures on sustainable development and birth control. This the first of four books, including a chapter on Hawaii.
