About the Author:
Loren N. Horton was Senior Historian of the State Historical Society of Iowa. A much-published poet, he is the author of ten books and is co-author of The Biographical Dictionary of Iowa. His interests include Victorian funeral and burial customs and the social history of the 19th century. He has written plays, song lyrics and memoir as well as poetry.
