About the Author:
Beverlee grew up in the heart of the San Joaquin Valley in California, where Mennonite Brethren farmers turned the land into "the fruit basket of the nation." After university, she joined the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ and worked with students at the University of Washington, Northern California, and Great Britain. She met and married Durwin, with whom she moved to Southern California for Durwin's theological studies at Talbot School of Theology. Beverlee joined the staff of two churches as a Director of Women's Ministries and Church Resource Ministries following Talbot. During this time, she also worked as a Business Manager for her daughter, Molly, in the entertainment industry for 10 years. Her last career position was with a financial services company as a Church Relations Manager. Beverlee is currently a cottage dweller in Orange County, California with her husband. She has one adult daughter. Beverlee loves to write, read, swim, and travel and enjoys the riches of family and friends.
Review:
I highly endorse your devotional as a much-needed resource for those suffering with clinical depression... You seek to validate the reader's current depressive experience in a way that gives hope but does not deny the fluctuating mental and emotional pain that coincides with a depressive episode...This devotional would serve to break the isolation of those who believe they are alone in their suffering. --Dawn K Angelich LMFT Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
I see a devotional, written by a Christian who herself is struggling with depression, as immensely helpful for those feeling anxiety and depression to open up and share their pain with others. I hope this devotional becomes available to the multitudes of people who could benefit from it. --Ronald Carlson, PSY.D. Clinical Pyschologist
With descriptive language, vivid metaphors, and personal anecdotes, the author tells of the pain when her heart and mind seemed paralyzed, and she was unable to go on. Beverlee gently invites the reader to take simple, practical steps with her toward recovery and health. She writes with the refreshing transparency of someone who has been there and intimately knows the struggles one faces in depression. --Barbara Borntrager Chaplain, Marketplace Ministries
