The aim of the original Working Party Report, published in 1990, was to establish a resonably comprehensive guide to the engineering classification and characteristics of tropical residual soils. The Working Party comprised academics, researchers, contractors and consultants known to have been particularly concerned with tropical residual soils. This edition makes the report available in book form for the first time. The opportunity has been taken to revise every chapter in the light of progress in scientific and engineering knowledge since 1990. Chapter 2 has particularly benefited from pedological advances and Chapter 4 from practical advances in engeering geology fieldwork. An index is also included.
