About the Author:

Alastair Campbell of Airds was employed by the Duke of Argyll as archivist at Inverary Castle and was the same year appointed Her Majesty's Unicorn Pursuivant of Arms, a member of the Court of Lord Lyon. He has published many articles on Scottish History and was in 1996 awarded an honorary research fellowship by Aberdeen University.
