Moody's contains research into Kansas counterculture, applying communication theory to the colorful events. Many Kansans-among them Bruce Conner, Michael McClure, Charles Plymell-had an effect on the nation's art and literature. Why did Wichita and Kansas produce such a movement? This is discovered in a thorough look at Kansas counterculture of the 1960s. I have used this research in my class Anthropology 315A, at Wichita State University.

About the Author:
The author is a lecturer in Anthropology at Wichita State University, and is a Kansan who has lived in England and California during the stirring times of the 1960s. He has performed rock and blues music since that decade, and has added definition to the Movement in the state.
Review:
As much a sociological look as a literary one, Moody's Skidrow Beanery is a little rough diamond of a paperback. -- Beat Scene Issue 39

Thanks for Moody's Skidrow Beanery. Enjoyed it very much, especially the pieces on Squeezer's Palace and the Burroughs Reunion in Lawrence. -- Dr. William Tuttle, Kansas University
