Journeys Into Justice contains creative models for achieving social justice through collaborative action for the common good.

Ten case histories of successful collaboratives show how positive socio-economic changes were accomplished at local, regional, and national levels.

Religious collaboration is a unique organizational form that aggregates people, power and financial resources to leverage socio-economic change for the common good. This is a book of hope. It reveals how the successful collaboratives built trust, cooperation, and effective long-term strategies for achieving social justice. The qualities that make religious collaboration effective are defined and described. Resource materials are provided for study and action.

This book is unique in its sharp focus on the values and social technologies of religious collaboration, qualities that are highly useful in today's politically and economically challenging times.

From the Inside Flap:
"This enormously important book is, as far as I know, without parallel. The book proves the 'infrastructure' of a number of collaborative for justice and considers their constituencies, strategies, visions, and leadership that have contributed to such effective work for the common good. Ten specific case histories provide an opportunity to reflect on the ways of faith in the midst of political economy. In addition to being a valuable 'history of courage,' the book also offers a variety of models for social justice ministries. These case histories feature passion and vision, but most of all trust as the prerequisite for getting the work done. We are greatly in debt to Nile Harper to making these splendid testimonies available. An enormously important book coming just at the right time as our society moves toward new public possibilities for social justice." -Dr. Walter Bruggemann, Professor Emeritus, Columbia Theological Seminary "Nile Harper has once again given us an insightful book that serves the cause of social justice. His understanding of social justice, so evident in his earlier book, Urban Churches: Vital Signs, has now led him to describe and analyze how diverse organizations can join together in effective collaboration that serves the common good. Journeys Into Justice shows in ten detailed case histories how faith-based collaborative can be effective in changing public policies and social systems to greatly improve the lives of thousands of people. I recommend this very readable book for all whose spiritual and social quest leads them to seek a more just and peaceful world." -Dr. Clifton Kirkpatrick, President of the World Alliance of Reformed Churches "Based on several decades of teaching, research, and experience in organizing religious collaborative, Dr. Harper understands the art and dynamics involved in creating collaborative communities for social transformation. Journeys Into Justice provides both theoretical and practical guidance for social entrepreneurs, social justice networks, and students of social change. These pages will become a textbook for leaders who are value-oriented and deeply committed to working cooperatively for social change." -Dr. Carnegie Samuel Calian, President Emeritus, Pittsburgh Theological Seminary
