Poetic Prisms is a select collection of acclaimed poems by the highly accomplished poet Judith Krum. All the poems included are prize winners or have been selected for publication in journals, magazines, or anthologies. Ms. Krum is the author of three previously published poetry collections, a contest judge for the National Federation of State Poetry Societies, and a past officer of the Florida State Poets Association.

Judith Krum writes, “When we consider the diverse forms and colors that are possible to see through a prism, it is not difficult to understand the many ways that poems can be interpreted when viewed through the prisms of age, class, race, religion, culture, language, and other conditions.

“As Indian poet and writer Amish Tripathi stated, ‘After all, one’s reality is but perception viewed through various prisms of context.’ And so this collection brings together my prize winning poems that illustrate many contexts of my life’s understandings. American poet Carl Sandburg explained poetry as ‘the capture of a picture, a song, or a flair in a deliberate prism of words.’ This collection endeavors to do just that.”

About the Author:
The life of a writer rises from the many experiences that inform the work of a wanderer. Judy Krum's life journey is no exception. From her mother, a nurse and talented seamstress, Judy learned sewing and handcrafts and an appreciation of her Swedish heritage. From her father, a talented electrical designer, Judy learned attention to detail and much about her Italian legacy and importance of family. From her many students and her peers in the disability rights movement, Judy has gained in understanding the influences of place and time that often appear in her poetry. By focusing on people, Judy is able to present portraits that illustrate shared aspects of the human condition. She was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1985. Judy's formal education began in Farmingdale, Long Island, New York, with exposure to many opportunities in the New York City area. A particular high school teacher encouraged Judy to pursue her dreams of writing and journalism and teaching. After graduating from Marietta College, Ohio, (BA, English) and McDaniel College, Maryland, (M.Ed. Counseling), a teaching career along with a role as a disability rights advocate has shaped much of Judy's professional background. She has also worked as a neuropsychological testing assistant, a restaurant hostess, a private school house parent, a receptionist for a dentist, and a religious education coordinator. After retirement, Judy moved with her husband from Bennington, Vermont, to Sanford, Florida. She became active in the Florida State Poets Association, serving as Treasurer for four years. Judy has also served as contest judge for the National Federation of State Poetry Societies. She has won many awards for her poetry and has had work published in journals and anthologies.
