About the Author:
JOHN FRIEDE began assembling the Jolika Collection in the 1960s; it is now one of the greatest collections ever assembled by a private individual. TERENCE HAYS, Professor Emeritus of Anthropology at Rhode Island College, is among the world's experts on art of the New Guinea Highlands. CHRISTINA HELLMICH is Curator of the Jolika Collection of New Guinea Art and of Oceanic Art at the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco.
