About the Author:

Paul Marechal is the author of Andy Warhol: The Complete Commissioned Posters 1964 - 1987 and Andy Warhol: The Complete Commissioned Magazine Work (both Prestel). An avid collector of Warhol's printed matter, he teaches art market fundamentals at the Universite du Quebec a Montreal, serves as curator of the art collection of Power Corporation of Canada, and appraises artworks for numerous Canadian museums.

The Rolling Stones’ “Sticky Fingers” with a giant close-up of a jeans-clad crotch, working zipper and underwear underneath was pure Warhol―proactive yet populist, and hard to ignore. His peelable banana on the cover of “The Velvet Underground & Nico” (1967) with the suggestive pink banana underneath and giant signature below it is without parallel.
