English summary: Joachim Wilhelm von Brawe (1738-1758) only wrote two plays, the bourgeois tragedy 'Der Freygeist' and the heroic tragedy 'Brutus'. Nevertheless, he succeeded in making a considerable contribution to the development of German drama in the second half of the 18th century. His aesthetics of revenge are contrary to the anthropological and poetological conceptions of his contemporaries, especially Lessing's, and already anticipate the works of the next generation of authors, Klinger's 'Zwillinge' or Schiller's 'Rauber'. By regarding Brawe's geniuses of revenge as 'radical losers' with reference to Hans Magnus Enzensberger, the causality of revenge, typical of his plays, is made comprehensible.
