It also housed ancient volcanic rocks which were believed to have formed about 240 million years ago. In fact, quartz crystal ignimbrite can be clearly seen on the ground surface at the Upeh Guling water fall which is about 15 minutes walk from Kuala Merong. It is considered to be one of the last remaining lowland dipterocarp forest in Malaysia. In this manuscript some of the actinomycetes collected and identified were described.
