One of the most compelling problems in modern Australian society is how to achieve Reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians. One way of contributing to the realisation of this noble goal is through writing. Surprisingly perhaps, the crime novel is suited to this tall task. In some ways, there are problems in using the crime novel to help achieve Reconciliation, but the problems can be overcome through imagination, sensitivity, and consultation with Indigenous stakeholders. As society evolves, the crime novel can evolve along with it. This book is vital for anyone interested in how writing can be used both to entertain and improve society.
