The realisation of gender equality in the media industry requires government and other stake holders to monitor and demand for accountability from media owners and managers and to ensure that transparent recruitment, promotional, remuneration and training policies are in place to mitigate gender based inequity. This book is based on research conducted in Uganda's print media, The New Vision. It explores the status of women in the media industry guided by feminist media theories. The study found that women have broken into the formerly male dominated occupation as reporters, photojournalists, editors and managers. Despite the fact that women rights and privileges are clearly stipulated in law books, women continue to be exploited in silence due to non commitment by media organisation. Unclear terms and conditions of service, cultural attitudes, sexual harassment, division of labour, maternal roles and inferiority complex were major challenges. The book will be useful to media trainers, practitioners and managers, women rights advocates and policy makers
