Assam is inhabited by a number of ethnic tribes belonging to the Indo-Mongoloid races. The people of this region have developed a rich ethnomedical tradition and have an abundance of medicinal plants known to the native people. In this manual, a total of one hundred ethnomedicinal plants of Assam have been incorporated along with family, local name, English name (if any), identifying characters, flowering and fruiting period, part used as well as therapeutic uses. Photograph of each of the plant has also been included to help the readers for correct identification. This volume is the outcome of author s field work conducted in between April 2010 to August 2011 in various places of Assam for the Major Research Project [F.
