Das reicht dem Fotokünstler, um darin ganze Küchen und Wohnzimmer zu installieren, um Alltagsgeschichten zu erzählen und "schwebende Atmosphären" zu erzeugen. Keine konventionelle Kleinbildkamera hat Wenzel je bedient. Seit er 1991 in seinem Heimatort Bautzen zum ersten Mal die Magie der Fotokiste erlebt hat, gibt es kein anderes bildnerisches Mittel mehr für ihn. Wenzel benutzt die Maschine, um eine gebrochene, andere Wirklichkeit zu simulieren. Er fügt die standardisierten Einzelbilder zu Collagen, in denen seltsame Zimmer entstehen. Eine Kunstwelt auf engstem RaumStühle, Tische, Lampen, Fliesen, Tapeten und Akteure drängen sich in der Kabine; für jedes Einzelbild müssen Wenzel und sein Team umbauen, die Kiste neu möblieren und tapezieren - ein Aufwand, der den Fotofix-Fanatiker dazu brachte, seinen angestammten Wirkungsort am Leipziger Hauptbahnhof doch aufzugeben.
