About the Author:
Geboren am 26.03.1876 in Berlin; gestorben am 04.10.1933 in Berlin. Der aus einer jüdischen, zum Protestantismus übergetretener Kaufmannsfamilie stammende Autor studierte Jura. Nach der Promotion 1906 in Greifswald gründete er 1907 die Zeitschrift Morgen, an der Hugo vonHofmannsthalund Richard Strauss als Ressortleiter mitarbeiteten und für die u.a. Rainer MariaRilke, FrankWedekind, Gerhard Hauptmann und ThomasMannschrieben. 1909 gab er die Schriftleitung ab und lebte fortan als Unterhaltungsschriftsteller und Kolumnist. 1933 nahm er sich das Leben.
