Condition: neu. Erstausgabe; OLWd., 351 Seiten mit zahlr. farbigen Illustrationen, gr.-4° (24,5 x 30,5 cm), neu // cloth binding, 351 pp. with illustrations in colour, large 4to, brand-new copy "Mediumistic drawings are largely unknown to the general public and are being reproduced as a comprehensive collection for the first time. The book begins with an important text on mediumistic art in a global context. The foundation of this book lies in the actions of the Brotherhood in Radvanice (1914-1951), which served as the cornerstone for the long-term development of the spiritualist movement in Silesia, with a wide range of activities ranging from a choir to immensely important publishing activities and organizing exhibitions. The onset of the communist dictatorship meant not only its end but also years of repression, leading faithful spiritists to hide in internal exile. What was built over the years was destroyed, and scattered, much of it irretrievably, and some of it hidden with the families of brave spiritists. After years of effort, a large collection of archival materials and over 250 drawings were found. Mediumistic drawing is elusive, fuelled by the psychic world of spiritism. The hand of the drawing medium is not directed by their consciousness, but rather by the expansive realm of the deceased, surpassing the limits of human understanding. Numerous influential figures in contemporary Czech and global art rightfully viewed mediumistic drawings as a phenomenon defying classification, serving as a profound source of inspiration. This book represents a noteworthy addition to the annals of world culture. The book was published in a bilingual Czech-English language version." Book Language/s: Czech, English.
