About the Author:
Dr Kiran Bedi is India's first and highest ranking woman in the Indian Police Service. Her experience and expertise include more than 30 years of tough yet responsive and interactive policing in different parts of India. She has represented India at the UN, the USA, European and Asian forums of Drug Abuse, Drug Trafficking Prevention, Prison Reforms and Women's Issues. Recipient of the Prestigious Ramon Magsaysay Award and various other awards and honours, she is a regular columnist with the leading daily newspapers. She founded two NGOs-Navjoyti and India Vision Foundation to provide education, training, counseling, health care and drug addiction treatment to slum and rural children, adolescents and women. Currently, she is on Deputation to UN as Civilian Police Advisor in the Department of Peacekeeping Operations.
