About the Author:

Prof. S. P. Vyas has nearly 22 years of research and teaching experience at both U.G. and P.G. levels. He has worked as Manager, R&D (New Drug Delivery) in Lupin Laboratories, Aurangabad for a period of nearly one year. He is a leading scientist and well-known academician of international repute. Prof. Vyas did his postdoctoral research at the School of Pharmacy, University of London (U.K.) under the supervision of Prof. Gregory Gregoriadis, a renowned liposomologist. He has supervised 17 Ph.D. and more than 55 M.Pharm. Research projects. He has over 150 research publications to his credit published in international and national journals. He has been awarded Pt. Lajja Shankar Jha Award for excellence in research in Engineering and Technology by the Govt. of Madhya Pradesh. He is a recipient of Motan Devi Dandiya Oration Award, 1998 and recently he has been honoured with Best Pharmacy Teacher of the Year, 2001 Award by APTI. He has delivered invited lectures, keynote addresses and chaired many sessions in several National and International Conferences and Symposia in India and abroad. He has written many invited review articles in Advanced Drug Delivery Reviews, Critical Reviews, TM in Therapeutic Drug Carrier Systems, Pharmaceutical Research & International Journal of Medicine and written many chapters in national and international books. He has authored 4 books, entitled Pharmaceutical Biotechnology , Advances in Liposomal Therapeutics , Controlled Drug Delivery & Targeted & Controlled Drug Delivery . Presently, he is Professor (Pharmaceutical Biotechnology) & Dean, Faculty of Technology, Dr. Harisingh Gour University, Sagar.Prof. Roopkrishan Khar, is a renowned academician and a research scientist. He was university gold medallist for standing 1st in B.Pharm. He was selected by ministry of H.R.D. for a Ph.D. fellowship under Indo-Bulgaria cultural exchange programme & was awarded Ph.D in the year 1986, by Sofia Medical Academy, Bulgaria. During his cultural exchange fellowship he visited most of the east and west European countries, as a part of his academic programme. Dr. Khar has developed a research school in Controlled Drug Delivery Systems and is at present intensively involved in development of mucosal and periodontal delivery among others. He has supervised 10 Ph.D thesis and 30 M.Pharm thesis and published 80 research papers in International & National journals. Some 90 research abstracts have been published in various Proceedings of National and International conferences. Dr. Khar has published five text and reference books so far. He is a widely travelled person in India, European countries and USA. Dr. Khar is a member of various professional bodies like, IPA, IPGA, APTI & NewYork Academy of Research. At present Dr. Khar is Professor & Head of Department of Pharmaceutics in Jamia Hamdard. He takes very active interest in professional matters & is the President of Indian Pharmaceutical Association (Delhi Branch) & Co-chairman of 53rd localorganizing committee of Indian Pharmaceutical Congress Association to be held in Delhi in Dec.2001.
