Dr. D.R. Arora, M.D., Ph.D., M.N.A.M.S., Professor and Head, Department of Microbiology, Maharaja Agarsen Medical College, Agroha, Hisar (India); Lead Assessor, National Accreditation Board torTesting and Calibration Laboratories (NABL), New Delhi (India); formerly Professor and Head, Department of Microbiology, Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Rohtak (India) has 34 years of teaching experience in microbiology including parasitology to medical, dental and postgraduate students. Besides conducting and supervising research in microbiology, he has published 150 research articles in several national and international journals of repute. The results of his research on malaria parasites and Kiebsiella pneumoniae have been cited in World Health Organization WHO/MAL/83.10003 and Topley and Wilson s Microbiology and Microbial Infections, Volume 2, 9th edition, 1998, respectively. In addition, he has authored Textbook of Microbiology for medical students and Textbook of Microbiology for Dental Students. He has also contributed a chapter on AIDS in the Manual of Skin Diseases by Jam and Deshore. He has supervised a number of postgraduate students of Doctor of Philosophy, Doctor of Medicine and Master of Surgery examinations. In appreciation of outstanding research carried out by him in India on bacteriocins of Kiebsiella pneumoniae, he was awarded Smt. Kunti Mehrotra Award of Indian Association of Pathologists and Microbiologists in 1983. In recognition of significant contribution for the advancement of medical sciences he was elected Member of National Academy of Medical Sciences (India) in 1985. He has been a Visiting Professor in University of Mauritius in 1989. He was awarded WHO fellowship on Laboratory Aspects of HIV/AIDS and STD at Community Health Surveillance and Laboratories Administration, Baltimore, Maryland (USA) in 1992. He was honoured by Indian Medical Association, Kaithal (Haryana) on the eve of Doctors Day on 01 -07-1999. He has been examiner for B.D.S., M.B.B.S., M.D. and Ph.D. Microbiology of a number of universities. He is an active member of several scientific societies. He has also chaired sessions and delivered special lectures at a number of symposialseminars in India and abroad. On behalf of NABL, he has inspected a number of laboratories in the country for accreditation. Dr. B. Arora, M.D., Professor and Head, Department of Pathology, Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Rohtak has 32 years experience of teaching graduate and postgraduate students and conducting research in histopathology, cytology, immunopathology and haematology. She has published 132 research articles, including nine in parasitic infections, in national and international journals of repute. The results of her research on malaria parasites and haemosiderin iron deposition in lymph nodes have drawn the attention of the international scientific community and have been cited in World Health Organization WHO/MAL/83. 10003 and Iron Metabolism, Volume 1, Number 10, October, 1979, respectively. She has been examiner for B.D.S., M.B.B.S. and M.D. Pathology of a number of universities and Diplomat of National Board of Examinations in Pathology. She has also contributed chapters on Retroviridae and Medical Mycology in the Textbook of Microbiology for medical students and chapters on Medical Mycology and Medical Parasitology in the Textbook of Microbiology for Dental Students. She is Chairperson of Clinopathological Conferences, PGIMS, Rohtak. She has chaired a number of symposia/sessions. She has a special interest in histopathology of parasitic infections.
