Review:
Carouschka's Tickets is at once a museum of objects, a record of movement, a catalog of graphic form and typography, and a concentrated experience of travel. Hundreds of plane tickets, train tickets, airline baggage tags, bus transfers, taxicab receipts, parking permits, and other bits of travel ephemera from 70 countries are displayed against rich fields of color. Travelers' thoughts and overheard comments are translated and interspersed between the tickets alongside their original-language versions, comments that range from the banal ("tea?") to the personal ("his wife is bound to notice something soon") to the profound ("alas, my spirit, your wanderings have been my home in this life"). This beautifully designed, printed, and bound volume makes real not only the feelings of travel but also of life itself, in subtle, quiet, and brilliant ways. Book Description Soft cover. Condition: Good. 1st Edition. Uncommon and scarce (and large) volume showcasing 30 years of travel by Swedish Designer Carouschka Streijffert through reproductions of all of his tickets and ephemera from worldwide travels. Entirely unique in its production, large oblong format bound through hole-punched pages held with screws. The binding is fairly strong and solid, though the front cover has a tear at the upper right corner causing it to be loose around the screw, though after tightening the screw a bit it is being held well in place by the pressure. Some creasing and scuffing to covers, light bumping to the back cover, but no other serious damage and should hold up well with care. Interior is remarkably clean and well kept. Despite the flaws of that top hole on the cover, still a nice overall copy. Heavy volume and will require extra shipping costs. Seller Inventory # ABE-1708742510493

The binding consists of two pins at the top and bottom inside corners, with no backing on the spine. Covers are heavier grade of book stock. A bit of shelf wear, edge wear, minor creasing to front cover. The bottom corner of the front cover has come away from the pin binding; an attempt at repair using scotch tape has failed. Binding otherwise remains intact. Book shows signs of having been consulted, but remains clean and bright and unmarked. This is a larger book, extra shipping charges may apply.
