Available for the first time on CD-ROM, AGROVOC is the multilingual thesaurus for indexing and retrieving data in agricultural information systems, specifically the international cooperative systems AGRIS (International Information System for the Agricultural Sciences and Technology) and CARIS (Current Agricultural Research Information System), managed by FAO. Each language version of AGROVOC is presented as a single alphabetical list containing three categories of entries: descriptors, non-descriptors and multiword terms. Thus, the single list combines the descriptors and non-descriptors included in the thesaurus, together with their world blocks and the permuted index of all their components.
