From the Back Cover:
Does it not seem too often that most of the time we act driven not by our instinct but guided rather by social pragmatism and unverified hypothesis, mistakenly assumed to be sacred truth?
We are guided by these sacred truths, which we assume to be beyond challenge and debate, and this demand that assumed practicality forces on us, creates so much dichotomy between what we are supposed to be and what we become in the end, that we are all the time stressed, mostly by trying to gag our instinct, and right to question, a faculty which nature has bestowed only on us as human beings.
Do you somewhere remember, across the foggy memory, how inquisitive you were as a child, before you finally succumbed to the security of silence?
Those who did not have answers, denied your right to question and they did it with so much of severity and you started believing it to be "un-cool" to question, any thing that came from the top? And as life unfolded, everything was coming from the top, your partner knew better, your teacher knew better, your boss knew better, and the entire society knew better, you pushed yourself to the bottom of the food chain, waiting to be eaten up, for whatever was left of the promise that you once were, when you were first held up in the arms, with pride and affection.
This book is an attempt to re-affirm that promise, to reconcile with your inner self, and to come to terms with the cost associated with it, which you will find, is not bigger than what you pay by not coming to terms with it. Not accepting your real self and not committing yourself to building on it, every day of your life, every moment of your life you are living with a stranger which is you. This book is an attempt to bridge a gap between the man in the mirror and the one in front of it.
