About the Author:

Ely Chinoy was Mary Huggins Gamble Professor of Sociology at Smith College. He previously taught at the New Jersey College of Engineering, New York University, and the University of Toronto. He was also a Fulbright Professor at the University of Leicester in England and in the Philippines and taught at Clark University, Mt. Holyoke College, and Amherst College. He is the author of Automobile Workers and the American Dream, Sociological Perspective, and Society: An Introduction to Sociology.
