This book captures the beginnings and major developments of indigenous mission in Singapore. Key movers and pioneers of mission organisations and conferences in Singapore and Asia are mentioned, notably Dr Tan Kok Beng, who has demonstrated an unusual passion for evangelism and mission, and who has played a pivotal role in the unfolding of indigenous mission in Singapore. In addition, this book recounts a brief history of the church in Singapore and the link between the Holy Spirit and missions. The author also discusses the relationship between indigenous mission and God's destiny for Singapore.

About the Author:
Rev Dr John S H Tay is currently the Dean of the Faculty of Biblical Studies in the Bethany International University (better known as the Bethany School of Missions). In 2004, he retired from St Andrew's Cathedral, where he had been Dean and Vicar since 1996. Before that, he was an academic staff of the National University of Singapore for about 22 years, as well as Professor and Head of the Department of Paediatrics (1988-1995). He is married to Ivy, with two children and six grandchildren.
Review:
Dr John Tay, in a sense much like the physician Luke of the Acts of the Apostles, has done a marvellous job in capturing the "ACTS" in Singapore of the birthing of indigenous missions. He painstakingly took the trouble, leaving no stone unturned, in digging up all the historical pockets of Singapore to bring to light the beginnings of indigenous missions in Singapore, which otherwise would not see the light of day. --E Sudhir Isaiah, PhD, President, Bethany International University, Singapore
