About this Item

Vinnius was one of the leading Netherlandish jurists of the 17th century and the present work on Roman civil law, many times printed, is credited with placing Dutch Law in its historical background and philosophical context. This is an "editio novissima, cui accedunt ejusdem Vinnii Quaestiones juris selectae: cum indicibus locupletissimis." The final 194 pp. are Vinniuis' "Selectarum juris quaestionum libri duo." This recension is that of Johann Gottlieb Heineccius. 4to. 2 vols. 998, 194 pp. (pagination from volume I to II is continuous). Acid-stained sheep, spine modestly tooled in gilt; two spine labels on each volume. Bindings scuffed. Some off-setting to the endpapers from the chemicals that treated the turn-ins. Text age-toned.
