About this Item: Printed By W. P. And Sold By Francis Fayram [and others], London, 1725. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. First Edition. half-leather4, viii, 108, [2]p. of tables. A very good copy, but it lacks the blank at the front and the pasted errata on p. viii, but two errata are printed on this page, The Spectator, Sept. 17, 1870 is written at the top of title page, 1870 gift inscription is written on the blank verso of the title page, and four lines of writing appear in a blank-space at the end of the book. The Moivre and the three books or pamphlets which follow are bound in half leather in very good condition, but the forecorners of the covers are a little rubbed and worn; the binder lists only the Moivre work on the spine. The other pamphlets are: 1. Robins, Benjamin. A discourse concerning the nature and certainty of Sir Isaac Newton's methods of fluxions, and of prime and ultimate ratio. London, Printed for W. Innys and R. Manby, 1735. [ii], 78p. + [16]p. publisher's catalogue. This pamphlet has some serious dark inkstains at the tops of the first 43 pages, but none on the text. 2. Cantabrigiensis, Philalethes, pseud. (James Jurin). The minute mathematician: or, The free-thinker no just thinker. Set forth in a second letter to the author of The analyst, containing a defense of Sir Isaac Newton and the British mathematicians, against a pamphlet entituled, A defense of free-thinking in mathematicks. London, Printed for T. Cooper, 1735. 112p. 3. Jurin, James. Dissertationes physico-mathematicae, partim antea editae in Actis philosophicis Londinensibus, jam auctiores & emendatiores, partim nunc primum impressae.
