A fine hardcover copy of the first edition, inscribed and signed by the author ("Phyllis and Charles") in the year of publication on the front free endpaper, 1970. The inscription is to the author's aunt. Laid in is a Christmas card (designed by the illustrator, Elva Paulson) with a long handwritten note to the author's aunt Dora and signed "Phyl and Chas". Also laid in are two pieces of printed promotional material, a press release dated December 1970 with biographical information about the author, and an order form which documents that this first edition was limited to 400 copies. Dark green cloth-covered boards, gilt spine lettering, gilt front board decoration, 8 5/8 x 6 5/8 inches, high-quality paper, unpaginated, numerous b/w illustrations. No dustcover, almost certainly as issued. Alaska poetry. (K027).
